Product Information
How can I find stores near me that carry your products?
Use our product locator here. If you are outside the US, please contact us with your location and the type of product you are looking for.
Many of our products are also available online through Amazon and other retailers. You can also order some products like our chips directly from us through our online store.
Do your cans use BPA?
As a large can manufacturer, we have been leading this effort in the industry. As of 2019, 100% of the cans we make and use are made without the intentional addition of BPA (Bisphenol A) in the can lining.
Do you use genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in your products?
Seneca Foods does not use produce (fruit, vegetables or legumes) that has been genetically modified. A number of our products are certified organic according to USDA federal guidelines in accordance with best practices for GMO avoidance. We believe in agricultural transparency and invite you to learn more about GMO crops at Best Food Facts.
Are my products still in date or expired?
As a general guideline, our products are best if used within 18 to 36 months from date of manufacture depending on storage conditions. Seneca Foods Corporation is starting to voluntarily place the best by dates on our packaging to make it easier for our consumers. Our products should be stored in a cool, dry place. We do not recommend consumption of expired products.
Example can code:
J0AP302A/3310 14:56The second position in the code (0) indicates the year the product was packed (2020). Our canned fruit and vegetable products have a three year shelf life through the end of the third year. The product listed above would expire on December 31st, 2023.
Shelf life:
Canned fruit and vegetables: 3 years
Acidic products (ie: sauerkraut, pickled beets, as well as any items packed in glass jars): 2 years
Cups: 2 years
Pouches: 18 months- What is the refrigerator life once a product has been opened?
After opening, remaining product should be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator and consumed within three days. Pickled items may last longer, but it all depends on the amount of times the container is opened and exposed to air and bacteria. If there is an off appearance/odor, we recommend disposing of the remaining product.
- Are Seneca Foods products Gluten-Free?
Processed with very few additives, which are listed on our labels’ ingredient statements, the majority of our products are by nature, gluten-free. Any questions regarding gluten content of a particular product can be answered by contacting Consumer Affairs.
Do your products contain allergens?
As required by the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004, all allergenic ingredients, regardless of the amount or function in food, must be listed in the ingredient statement on the label. The major allergens (also referred to as “The Big 8”) include: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts and soybeans. Sometimes “spices” or “natural flavoring” terminology may be used in the ingredient statement. Corporations use these terms to protect proprietary recipes, however, if any of the above allergens are present in these “spices” or “natural flavorings” they must be clearly listed in the ingredient section.
- Are your products produced in the USA?
- A great majority of our fruit and vegetable products are grown and packed in the USA. If a product is imported, the packaging will state the country of origin.
